Kirsten Bonar 5th Dan

Kirsten at the age of 5 followed in her Dad’s (Charlie Lindsay 6th Dan) footsteps and joined his club Holytown Karate.


Kirsten progressed through both the junior and Kyu grades and at the age of 16 she achieved her 1st Dan Black belt. In 2008 Kirsten was awarded the rank of 5th Dan. Kirsten is now also an Instructor at Holytown Karate as well as Shotts Karate Club.


At the age of 17 Kirsten was selected for the Scotland Squad for Kata. Kirsten won many Scottish Titles and had a very successful career in the Squad. Kirsten retired from competition to concentrate establishing Calderbank Karate Club. As well as concentrating on her club Kirsten moved into the refereeing side of karate.


She is now the highest qualified Female Referee in all styles of Karate holding the rank of European Judge A. Kirsten hopes to move forward further in the next few years and achieve her European qualification.


Kirsten is the SKGB Director of Refereeing.


Kirsten was appointed by the SKF onto the SKF Sports Committee. The Committee was set up as the driving force behind the Federations future. The Committee have already made changes to the Federation and it has had a very positive outcome.


Kirsten was appointed Chairman of the Sports committee on the 23rd June 2013. Again this shows just how involved in the sport WKC Instructors are.
