Welcome to Wado Kai Central Karate
At Wado Kai Central Karate, we teach Wado-Kai – a dynamic style of Karate that blends traditional Japanese Karate with the principles of Jujitsu. This unique combination focuses on both powerful techniques and effective self-defence.
We are proud members of the Scottish Karate Federation, which is affiliated with the Scottish Karate Governing Body (SKGB) – the only recognised governing body for Karate in Scotland.
Wado Kai Central Karate is made up of two clubs: Holytown Karate Club and Shotts Karate Club.
Our classes are fun, energetic, and structured to help students build confidence, discipline, and coordination. We cover everything from basic and combination techniques to bag work, kata, and free sparring. Through games and skill-based activities, students learn teamwork, respect, and the value of good sportsmanship.
We offer classes for all ages and abilities:
• Little Samurais (Ages 3–5) – A playful introduction to Karate through fun games and movement
• Juniors (Ages 6–11) – Building strong foundations in technique, focus, and self-discipline
• Seniors (Ages 12–Adult) – Developing advanced skills, fitness, and sparring in a supportive environment
We’re always happy to welcome new members – come along and give it a try!
