About us

Holytown Karate club was formally Honeywell Karate club. Honeywell Karate club and Sensei Hamish Adam 8th Dan move to Holytown Community Centre in the early 70's and it became Holytown Karate Club.

Hamish's Meadowbank club was growing and he decided time had come to pass Holytown Karate Club over to Charlie Lindsay. Charlie at the time was a 6th kyu Green Belt.

Charlie’s hard work and dedication to karate has made the club one of the most successful clubs in the Scottish Karate Federation. The club has produced many internationalist and at the moment has 7 members in the Scotland Team.

The club has 3 of the highest qualified Referees in Scotland. 2 European Referees and 1 British Referee.

On the 2nd October 2002 Grant and Kirsten established Calderbank Karate Club. Calderbank karate club grew in strength and it was decided in 2010 that the best way forward for both clubs was to merge the club together in one dojo and Wado Kai Central Karate was established.

Shotts Karate club was founded by Jimmy McCord 7th Dan in 1976. After 30 years in karate Jimmy passed the running of the club over to Colin Russell. In 2016 Colin had to retire from karate due to injury. Colin asked if Charlie would take over the running of the club and Shotts karate is now part of WKC Karate.

In 2019 two of our junior coaches Rebekah Bonar and Rhys Brown opened WKC Bellshill and is mentored by our three senior instructors.
